2 Spirits in Motion Society
The national organization that supports 2S kin through community, ceremony, advocacy, and youth leadership across Turtle Island.
2SiMS began as a grassroots effort to unite 2S kin across Canada. The society was officially incorporated in 2018 by a provisional board of 2S leaders. Early gatherings like the 2 Spirits in Motion Forums built awareness of Indigenous 2SLGBTQQIA+ health and rights, and created space for kin to speak about identity, safety, and community care.
From these early efforts, 2SiMS grew into the national 2S organization it is today. Our work centres community voice, intergenerational teachings, and nation-to-nation relationships. We continue to honour the vision of the Elders, leaders, youth, and partners who helped shape this movement.
What We Do
-

Gatherings & Community Engagement
We help create and support spaces where 2S people can come together. This includes national and regional gatherings, the 2SiMS Pow Wow, youth events, community visits, and standing with partner organizations at their Two-Spirit and Indigiqueer gatherings.
-

Advocacy and National Representation
We take part in conversations and decisions that affect 2S people across Canada. Our work includes policy review, national partnerships, research projects, and representation on councils such as the AFN 2S+ Council and international Indigenous forums.
-

Education and Communications
We share information that helps communities understand 2S identities and experiences. This includes newsletters, social media presence, learning tools, public awareness campaigns, and accessible resources.
